Why: Every single person in an addict’s immediate family is affected in some way by the individual’s substance abuse. Addiction impacts a family’s finances, physical health and psychological well being.
Among all of the family members who are impacted by an addict’s disease, perhaps no one suffers as much as children. The effects of living with an addicted parent can be felt long after childhood and well into adulthood. Parental alcoholism and drug addiction can create poor self-image, loneliness, guilt, anxiety, feelings of helplessness, fear of abandonment and chronic depression in children.
We are Sonlight Wesleyan Church want to stop that cycle of drug addiction that is negatively affecting our families and communities. The Bike-A-Thon is striving to bring awareness to this crisis and raise money for two of many organizations that are working to stop the cycle. All ages are encouraged to participate. Donations are accepted and encouraged by all involved, both individuals and families.
State Park Entrance fee is not required that day.
Helmets are strongly suggested, but if you choose to ride without a helmet you are riding at your own risk.
